THE CRITIC CABERNET SAUVIGNON
California. Sure, everybody’s a critic, but it is hard to fi nd
anything wrong with this classic Napa Valley Cabernet
Sauvignon. Great legs, a lush and full nose. Complex with bold
dark and juicy fruit, cherry notes, and a subtly spicy fi nish. I
have recommended this Cab a bunch of times, either for gifts
or for people just looking to try something new, and never a bad
word came back once about it. So, I hope you enjoy this with
a satisfying thick steak...and may all your favorite bands stay
together! Mark S.

Spain. Spanish legend has it that witches, known as “Bruxas”
would conjure up the spirits in vineyards to strengthen up the
vines and help produce the highest quality. The Albarino grapes
featured in the tasty and elegant Spanish treat certainly have
been perfectly enchanted here! It starts with a light and bright
color in the glass, with a very subtle nose which only serves
to intrigue the senses. Then the crisp pear and lively stone
fruit body defi nitely hit the palate in the most refi ned manner,
and are followed by a long-lasting mineral fi nish to make this
a super-satisfying glass of wine. “Fair is foul and foul is fair...
with poultry or seafood, this wine makes a perfect pair”! Mark S.

buyers and sellers an edge in what continues to be
a challenging real estate market. Agents, brokers
and Realtors¨ are professionals who have distinct expertise
and knowledge of the process of buying and selling homes.
That expertise is evidenced by how many people rely on real
estate professionals each year. A 2022 Zillow Group Consumer
Housing Trends report found 88 percent of homeowners
choose to list their homes with a real estate agent when it
comes time to sell.
Individuals understand that it can be in their best interests to
work with real estate professionals, but they may not know
where to look as they seek to work with one. Here are some
tips for fi nding the right match in a real estate professional.
• Know the difference in real estate professionals. Real estate
agents are required by the state in which they operate to pass
a real estate license exam. Real estate brokers take it a step
further and undergo additional training, which could bring
additional experience to the table. Realtors¨ are members of
the National Association of Realtors¨ and beholden to its strict
code of ethics. These individuals also may have undergone
additional training that qualifi es them to work with certain
types of clients, such as seniors.
• Seek referrals. Friends or family members, or even others in
the community, can put people in touch with real estate professionals.
When asking for referrals, individuals can inquire
about certain professionals and how they handled buying and/
or selling a home.
• Work with the right type of agent. Generally speaking, real
estate agents either work with buyers or sellers in the transaction.
Many will do both, but some specialize in buying or
selling. Find a professional who either does both or specializes
in your position.
• Research an agent’s online presence. Use the internet to see
if the agent has a website, a particular philosophy or a specialty.
This also may be a place to check online reviews. Don’t be
dissuaded by one or two poor reviews. However, if there are
many, it may be best to look elsewhere.
• Meet and interview potential agents. Individuals should
speak with a couple of real estate professionals to see what
they offer. This is a good way to determine if there is a
connection there, and whether the agent will get the results
needed. A well-prepared agent will come with data, including
“comps” of properties in the area. Professionals typically have
information about the current market trends and a portfolio of
the homes they have brokered recently.
• Go with gut instincts. If it’s between two people of equal
qualifi cation, select the person with whom you have a stronger
rapport. This person will be guiding you through a sizable
fi nancial transaction, so comfort level is important.

right above Rome. This wine comes from the Montefalco Area
and is a blend of Sangiovese (70%), Sagrantino (15%), and Merlot

-- full-bodied dark colored wines that are unapologetic for having
backbone and immense structure. Arnaldo Caprai is considered
one of the best in Montefalco and this wine showcases why. A
real fl avorful treat from start to fi nish. Perfect match with roasted
meats of all kinds as well as stews. Mike H.

GARNACHA DE FUEGO
Spain. The Beast is Back! After a new packaging design and some
tweaks at the winery, this Spanish beauty is fi ring on all cylinders.
Made from 100% Garnacha (Grenache) Grown at over 3,000 feet in
the mountains and from very old vines. It is a full bodied dense dry
red with copious amounts of red and black fruits. Because of all this
fruit the wine is such an easy drinker and just explodes in the glass
when fi rst poured. One of the ultra bang for your buck wines out there.
Enjoy it with all roasted meats especially lamb and pork. Mike H.
KERMIT LYNCH COTES DU RHONE
France. Importer extraordinaire Kermit Lynch has been importing
wines for well over forty years now. He is legendary in the wine
world and his portfolio proves it. It’s literally a who’s who of the
greatest producers around. So it makes sense that after all these
years forging relationships with growers that he would come out
with his own wine made to his exacting standards. Kermit knows
what he wants and back in the 70’s he demanded that the wine he
import be bottled unfi ned and unfi ltered, unheard of back then. Now
everyone does it. His attention to detail shows in this full bodied full
of personality dry red. A blend of Grenche, Syrah, Mourvedre and
Carignan. Mike H.

Italy. Another beauty from the fantastic estate of Tenuta
Montanello. This 100% Nebbiolo classic comes from the Langhe
area of Piemonte where the famed Barolo and Barbaresco come
from. This medium to full bodied dry red has no oak aging to it.
The color is a beautiful dark cherry. Very pretty nose of cherry
and a dash of rose petal. On the palate the wine is fresh and lively
with a very elegant fi nish. All the trademarks of great Nebbiolo.
Don’t let the price fool you -- this is a very serious wine here.
I had a bottle opened for three days and it tasted wonderful.
Matches well with pasta of course, but equally great with all
roasted meats as well. Mike H.

CHATEAU GUIPIERE CLOS DES
MORINIERES
France. Muscadet is such an overlooked wine. It’s a shame
quite honestly as most muscadets such as this over deliver for
their price point. The beauty to this wine is its purity and for
its simpleness. Meaning: No new oak. No added yeast cultures
for fermentation. No big fl abby wines. This medium bodied dry
wine is very crisp and fl avorful. Very round mouthfeel from
resting on its lees (spent yeast cells) and piercingly delicious
fruit. A real gem that is great with seafood, salads, chicken or
by itself. Mike H. 10.99
DOMAINE JEAN VULLIEN & FILS PINOT NOIR
France. Hailing from the mountainous region of Savoie comes
this fresh and super delicious Pinot Noir. The Savoie Region
borders Switzerland and Northern Italy and has a climate that
Pinot Noir loves -- warm days and cool nights. This climate
keeps the grapes from getting overripe and alcoholic. As a
matter of fact this Pinot comes in at a very honest 12.5% ABV.
It is a beautiful, well balanced and harmonious dry red with a
big personality for not big dollars. It whispers Burgundy to me
at times but still stays true to its Savoie roots. Enjoy. Mike H.

PIERRE SPARR GRAND RESERVE RIESLING
France. The Sparr family from Alsace has been making wine
since 1680. I guess you can say they’ve been doing something
right after all this time. This juicy, refreshingly 100% dry
Riesling is sourced from 25+ year vineyards. Hints of lime
with a traditional mineral backbone. The nose screams
Riesling with the familiar tart apple and fl oral notes. Lush
and concentrated, this well appointed classic has so much
personality for so few dollars. Substantially farmed so there’s
no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, just real, honest Riesling
that soothes the soul. Mike H. 10.99
JAM JAR SWEET SHIRAZ
South Africa. Here is a wine that fi lls a category for wine
drinkers seeking a quality red with a sweeter fl avor profi le. It
is made from 100% Shiraz grapes and crafted in a semi-sweet
style for those who fi nd red wines to be too bitter and harsh.
This full-bodied jam packed wine can be served slightly chilled
as well.” Mike H.

POMELO SAUVIGNON BLANC
California. This full-bodied, dry white is real refreshing and
easy to drink. Lots of citrus fruit can be smelled and tasted here
especially pink grapefruit. It’s the acidity of good Sauvignon

up with fi sh and all white meats. Mike H. 7.99
